This is called, working with what you have an a little more.  My husband and I have been living here now for almost 4 years and we LOVE it but certainly made it our own.  Originally there was awful 80's wall paper everywhere and the walls underneath weren't in the greatest of shape so we choose coordinating wall coverings for the dining and living room area's and a more calming foe sea grass for the bedroom.  The kitchen was wood paneling and still is but with a coat of paint that wood paneling adds some texture and depth in comparison to ordinary flat GWB.  We had the hardwood floors re-sanded,  added a few new light fixtures and with the addition of my furniture and accessories we made a place for us to call HOME!
